Turns a birdbath into a water feature
No cable, no plug, nothing to install
Several spray heads in the box

Drop It In The Water And Walk Away

A birdbath with still water is decoration. A birdbath with moving water is a water feature — and, incidentally, far more attractive to birds and far less attractive to mosquitoes. This is the cheapest possible way to get from one to the other: a floating disc with a solar panel on top and a small pump underneath.

There is no cable, no plug, no reservoir and nothing to install. It floats, the sun hits the panel, and the fountain starts. Cloud passes over and it pauses; the sun returns and it starts again.

Several Spray Heads In The Box

Different nozzles give a tall thin jet, a wide low spray or a bubbling dome. The right one depends on how deep your bowl is and how much wind you get — a tall jet in an exposed garden simply blows the water out over the edge.

Three Sizes

13, 16 or 18 cm across. Match the disc roughly to the surface of your bowl: too large and it will not float freely, too small and it looks lost in a big pond.

It Floats. That Is The Installation.

No cable, no plug, no reservoir and nothing to bury. Put it on the water, let the sun reach the panel, and the fountain starts. Cloud passes and it pauses; the sun comes back and so does the water.

Moving Water Changes A Garden

Still water is decoration. Moving water brings sound, catches light, draws far more birds in, and gives mosquitoes nowhere to lay. It is a remarkable amount of change for the price.

Spray nozzles supplied with the fountain

Choose The Right Nozzle

Several heads are included: a tall thin jet, a wide low spray and a bubbling dome. In an exposed garden the tall jet simply blows over the edge of the bowl, so start low and work up.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it need a battery?

No, it runs directly from the sun, so it works while the panel is lit and stops when it is not. That means no night-time running, but also nothing to charge, replace or plug in.

Which size should I choose?

Match it roughly to the surface of your bowl. 13 cm suits a standard birdbath, 16 cm a larger one, and 18 cm a small pond. Too large and it cannot float freely; too small and it looks lost.

How deep does the water need to be?

Enough for the pump underneath to sit fully submerged, so a shallow saucer will not work. A typical birdbath is fine. Top the water up in hot weather so the pump never runs dry.

Is it safe for birds?

Yes, and moving water tends to attract more birds than still water. Keep the bowl clean as you would anyway, and lift the unit out occasionally to rinse the inlet.

Why has the spray weakened?

Almost always debris on the pump inlet or dust on the panel. Lift it out, rinse both, and it returns to full flow. This is the only maintenance it needs.
