Which length should I buy?
Allow roughly 4-5cm of bar per knife. The 33cm holds a small everyday set, the 48cm covers a full block's worth, and the 20cm is for a specific narrow gap or a couple of favourites beside the hob.
How does it fix to the wall?
It screws to the wall with the fixings supplied. Because it will carry the weight of several knives, fix it into something solid rather than into plasterboard alone, and use appropriate plugs for your wall type.
Will it scratch my knives?
Place the blade rather than dragging it, and it will not. The habit to avoid is sliding a knife along the bar to reposition it, which is what marks the flat of a blade over time.
Can I put it on a larder door?
Yes, and it is a good use of dead space. Check the door is solid rather than hollow, and be aware the knives will move when the door swings, so keep it to lighter blades if the door gets slammed.
Is the finish stainless or plated?
Brushed stainless steel on the visible face. Wipe it dry after cleaning to avoid water spotting, which is the only thing that really shows on a brushed finish.
